moments before the big day. An engagement session is your chance to pause, soak it all in, and
celebrate this exciting new chapter with photos that feel like you.

Whether you’re counting down to your wedding or still deciding on a date, here are the most
frequently asked questions we get from couples booking an engagement session in Metro
Detroit and Southeast Michigan.

When should we schedule our engagement session?

Most couples book their session 6–12 months before the wedding, but there’s no hard rule (we have photographed session two weeks before the wedding). We recommend booking sooner if you want photos for your:

• Save the dates
• Wedding website
• Guest book or reception décor

We offer sessions year-round, but summer and early fall are our busiest (and most
colorful) months.

Where should we do our engagement photos?

Detroit and Southeast Michigan are full of stunning photo spots – from gritty urban textures to
romantic parks and lake views. We’ll send over a form to find out the type of vibe/look you want
for your photos, and we’ll give you suggestions on some perfect locations for your personality and style. And of course, if you have a specific location you would like, please let us know.

What should we wear?

Think coordinated, not matching. Choose outfits that make you feel confident, elevated, and
comfortable.

• Soft neutrals, rich earth tones, or bold jewel hues photograph beautifully.
• Skip loud prints or logos.
• Bring two outfits if you’d like: one dressy, one casual.

We’re awkward in front of the camera—can you help?

Absolutely. Most of our couples say this before their session, you’re not alone! We always say, as along as you’re willing to take direction and have fun, leave the rest to us!

We’ll guide you with natural prompts, light direction, and playful moments so you’re never stiffly posed. Our goal is to capture your personalities and create art at the same time.

How long is the session?

Our engagement sessions typically last 1.5-2 hours. That’s plenty of time for a few clothing changes, and a quick location change if desired.

When will we get our photos?

You’ll receive a peek within a week and your full gallery within 2–3 weeks. We also offer custom
albums, prints, and even video add-ons if you’re interested in those.

Can we add video to our session?

Yes! We’re currently offering photo + video engagement sessions for a limited time. This
includes short, highlight-style films you can share with loved ones or play at your wedding.

Can we bring our dog (or something meaningful to us)?

YES. Whether it’s your pup, a vintage car, or a picnic at your favorite park—we love
incorporating personal touches. Your session should tell your story, your way. We suggest
doing these photos for the first or last 15-20 minutes of the session and having someone who
can hang out with the dog when we’re not shooting.
